Been listening to this album for many years on you tube, now with the extra tracks it has become a whole new experience and yes Ian well worth both the money and the wait. Though I do not doubt that others like myself wish there were a few more than two albums.
Be smiley.

about

*Original album expanded for a digital re-issue with 6 previously unreleased tracks. First time vinyl release available for pre-order*

The Space Rock continuum is measured in space time so, while the album might only be one year old on Jupiter, down here on planet Earth, a dozen Gregorian years have elapsed since the original 2011 release of Lunar Dunes' Galaxsea on the 4Zero label.

That 4Zero cd pressing has long since sold out and now sells for eye-watering sums on the record collector market. In recent years the album has only been available as an incomplete authorised download and via a number unauthorised streams.

With Galaxsea generating well over a million streams on YouTube there has been a growing clamour among discerning heads for the band to release a retro-formatted reissue of the complete album for those who want to take their voyages into inner space off-line.

The good news for all the Time Lords, truth-seekers and inter-planetary vacationers who have gravitated towards this time-bending cult classic is that it is finally benefitting from a definitive edition and a first vinyl pressing.

For the digital release on June 16th, the space dust has been blown off the 2011 hard drives, the psychedelic nanobots were sent in to do their work and the sessions have been remixed, re-mastered and re-sequenced into a whole new long-form listening experience. The band have expanded the original 9 track cd release with 6 previously unreleased tunes offering an additional 30 minutes of music.

For the vinyl release the band selected 7 of their favourite pieces from the sessions to produce a 50 minute Galaxsea highlights package. The Galaxsea vinyl edition has been mastered by Nick Robbins and has been pressed on lustrous clear vinyl at Gz in a limited edition of just 300 copies available exclusively for pre-order from Burning Shed with an ETA of August 16 2023.

Lunar Dunes were originally formed by guitarist Adam Blake (The Treatment, Cornershop), drummer Hamilton Lee (Transglobal Underground) and bassist Ian Blackaby. Influenced by the Kosmiche music of 60s and 70s West Germany and Teo Macero's work with Miles Davis, the band's debut album, From Above, was recorded in three days with sleeve design by Italian artist Iker Spozio and mixed and engineered by Paul Tipler (Stereolab, Mojave 3, Wonderstuff).

The Dunes made their live debut at the Marquee Club in London on January 11 2008 and from there launched a residency with their own Club Dune events at the Inn on the Green in Ladbroke Grove on Friday March 21 2008. Guests over the following weeks included White Hills, Damo Suzuki and Wolf People.

Galaxsea, the second album, saw the addition of harpist Julia Thornton (Roxy Music and Rod Stewart), sax and keyboard player Larry Whelan (Natacha Atlas) and vocalist / on-stage sonic manipulator Krupa (Transglobal Underground and Krupa 43Two).

The band played the final gig of their second incarnation opening for Here and Now at the Borderline on May 27th 2011.
